Jobs at Henkel

Bernadette

Job title: Senior Compensation Analyst
Department: Human Resources
At Henkel since: December 7, 1998

What is your position at Henkel and what are your responsibilities?
Six months ago I rotated to a completely different department and role at Dial. I’m now a Senior Compensation Analyst, yet another milestone in my career at Dial. My position includes supporting the HR Managers for Dial, conducting job evaluations, market pricing, approving offers and basically assisting the HR Managers by providing them with a resource for compensation for employees. Additionally, I provide high-level compensation analysis for Dial and other Henkel North America businesses. I also complete salary surveys and study the labor markets to determine compensation trends. We participate in about 30 surveys for those who fall within my arena of responsibility. It is my task to compile data to meet the actual surveys and then upload them to a system that we have. What I enjoy most about my role is conducting job evaluations. It gives me a better perspective of our organization as a whole.

Did you have personal responsibility from day one?
Our compensation team consists of four professionals, each having personal responsibility. Not one person is a lead – we are all compensation leaders for our client groups. The way we split our roles is that each of us supports a certain business unit or Henkel business. The responsibility that we each have is being the lead compensation person for our specific businesses.  I view our team as the compensation experts and resource for our HR Managers .

Which projects have you worked on in the past?
A few years ago we rolled out Domestic Partner Benefits. I had the opportunity to work on this project, from conducting the analysis and then presenting it to our senior management. It was very interesting because it was a new benefit and we were not sure how it would be received in the company. It was challenging for me to do something totally different and see it be successful. I recently took the lead in kicking off a new affinity group. The Hispanic Professional Society just rolled out this year. Affinity groups are similar to employee support groups responsible for diversity efforts. Our goal is to launch more efforts within the community that we serve and promote the Henkel name.
