The Cleveland Metroparks are a system of nature preserves in Greater Cleveland that encircle the city of Cleveland. These generally follow the rivers that flow through the region to Lake Erie. Referred to affectionately as the "Emerald Necklace," this network of 16 reservations across 21,000 acres includes hundreds of miles of walking, bicycle, and horse trails, parks, picnic areas, five nature education centers, six golf courses, and abundant fishing holes. In addition, the park district manages the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland.

Nearly seven million people visit the Sandusky, Cedar Point and Lake Erie Islands area each year, solidifying its position as one of the most appealing vacation destinations in the Midwest. From thrilling roller coasters to unspoiled natural coastlines, the Lake Erie Shores & Islands region offers year-round fun and relaxation for the whole family.
Cedar Point Amusement Park/Resort. With 68 rides, including 17 roller coasters that include three of the top 10 steel roller coasters in the world, Cedar Point is a coaster lover's dream come true. The park has been voted several times as the "World's Best Amusement Park."
Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari, and Castaway Bay. Offering themed accommodations and mega-sized indoor water parks, where its 80° year-round, get drenched with entertainment opportunities like no other.

Culture and the Arts
The Cleveland area offers a wealth of venerable cultural institutions. One of the most prestigious is the Cleveland Museum of Art, established in 1913. It is the only major museum in the country to still offer free admission to its permanent collection. The Cleveland Orchestra delights residents and visitors alike with its elegant and complex sound as well as its diverse repertoire. Playhouse Square is Cleveland's theater district and is the second largest performing arts center in the country - second only to Broadway in number of productions. The Cleveland Playhouse is America's oldest regional theater company and offers a regular schedule of dramas, comedies, and musicals, many of which are world premieres. Other cultural attractions include the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the National Inventors' Hall of Fame, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Golfers can swing their clubs at one of 300 golf courses throughout Northeast Ohio. Tell your friends that you've played the Pete Dye masterpiece at Fowler's Mill, or Firestone Country Club where Tiger Woods won four World Golf Championship Invitationals. For those who prefer water sports, Lake Erie has some of the best walleye, perch and bass fishing in the world, along with swimming, boating, parasailing, scuba diving, jet skiing and canoeing. Fly fisherman can cast for steelhead trout, salmon and bass in the Chagrin, Rocky, and Cuyahoga Rivers.
Shopping and Fine Dining
Shop till you drop! From downtown to the suburbs, Cleveland boasts a wide variety of retail venues - The Avenue at Tower City Center and The Galleria at Erieview - and three historic arcades, offers a variety of upscale stores and unique specialty shops and art galleries. On the west side of town, Crocker Park features a mixture of internationally known retail stores, spacious office buildings, great restaurants, luxury apartments, and spectacular homes. It's all in a park-like setting filled with the captivating charm and bustling energy of a traditional downtown main street. The east side of town offers a similar retail / lifestyle setting at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst. The Cleveland area also offers many quaint, eclectic boutiques and antique districts located in Chagrin Falls, Coventry Village, Little Italy, Shaker Square, and Larchmere and Lorain Avenues feature unique and hard-to-find items.
Education
Northeast Ohio's network of 55 colleges and universities comprises the second largest concentration of educational institutions in the nation (after New York City). Outstanding university and vocational training programs, coupled with exceptional liberal arts colleges, provide abundant educational opportunities. Case Western Reserve University is one of the premiere research universities in the country. Through its schools and colleges, Case Western Reserve University offers outstanding programs and degrees in more than 60 fields.
Central Location
Avon is conveniently located in the metropolitan Cleveland area. Cleveland is ideally situated at the intersection of several interstate highways (I-77, I-71 and I-90) and State Route 2. Amtrak makes several daily stops downtown. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport serves as a hub for Continental Airlines and services nearly 700 arrival flights daily from more than 142 destinations. Continental Airlines also offers daily, non-stop service from London Gatwick to Cleveland.
